In a recent conference call, Alexander Everke, the CEO at LED and sensor developer ams Osram, remarked that microLED is one of the company's key initiatives.

The microLED market, according to Everke, is "clearly a few years away", but the company plans to invest in the technology to make sure it stays ahead of the curve, as it wants to position itselff as the clear microLED leader.

TrendForce: the market for microLED TV chips to grow to $3.4 billion by 2025

Market analysts from Trendforce estimate that the market for microLED chips used in the TV market will grow from around $23 million in 2021 to over $3.4 billion by 2025.

Trendforece acknowledges the many challenges facing the display industry before microLED TVs are mass produced - the high cost of microLED chips (most of the cost of current microLED TVs lies in the LEDs). Why microLED displays may take longer than expected to reach the market

MicroLED displays show great promise, as the technology enables emissive displays that can offer performance on par with OLED displays and higher brightness and efficiency. In addition, these displays can offer higher lifetimes and less burn-in.

Omdia: the MicroLED market will reach $7 billion in sales in 2025

Omdia published a very interesting article, detailing the company's view on the microLED market - including its latest market forecast

MicroLED display shipment by application forecast (2020-2027, Omdia)

Omdia sees 5 million microLED display shipping in 2025, which the company says will generate $7 billion in revenues. In 2027, the market will grow to over 11 million units. Omdia lowered its forecast from 2020 (back then it projected 16 million display shipments in 2027).
