MicroLED-Connect is the world's first dedicated MicroLED conference and exhibition. The event, organized by TechBlick and the MicroLED Association, will take place at the High Tech Campus in Eindhoven, also known as "the smartest square kilometer in all of Europe", and will include an excellent conference program, masterclasses, tours - with a special emphasis on social/professional gatherings and networking opportunities.
One of the themes to be highlighted at the event is AR/VR, which is perceived as one of the key markets for microLED display makers thanks to the high-brightness and efficiency of microLEDs - making them an excellent candidate to drive future AR and VR headsets and products.
Both Google and Meta will give keynotes during the event, focusing on AR and VR technologies. Google's AR Director, Bernard Kress, will detail how smart glasses displays are transitioning from LCoS to microLEDs. Meta's Senior Directory of Display and Optics, Ajit Nina, will give a talk about the role of perceptual imaging and the impact to display design.
The MicroLED-Connect conference itself will include some very interesting talks focused on AR/VR and microdisplays. MICLEDI's co-founder and CTO will discuss manufacturing challenges for microLED microdisplays, and GlobalFoundries' Strategic Product & Engineering Leader will present the company's platform for AR backplanes.
The conference will also feature two AR developers - KuraTech and XPANCEO that will detail their microLED-based solutions. Kura will present its groundbreaking headset product while XPANCEO will show the company's wearable smart contact lens technology, based on 2D graphene-inspired materials with a microLED display engine.
In addition, both the Yole Group and Omdia will detail the current industry and market status and will offer a view into their vision and roadmaps for the microLED industry, where AR and VR solutions will be a special focus area. Many of the technology and research talks that discuss novel processes, material platforms and display designs will also be of great interest for AR and VR solutions developers.
Korea's UBI Research will hold a masterclass course on September 24 that will focus on the AR and VR industry, detailing the latest technologies, trends and future market. Following the masterclasses, one of the offered tours at the High Tech Campus will be to SCIL Nanoimprint Solutions, that offers technology for the production of high-end AR waveguides. On the first day, the MicroLED Association will hold a special members-only dinner that will also be another excellent networking opportunity, and many of the association's members are focusing on microLED microdisplays for the AR and VR industries.
MicroLED-Connect's talks, masterclasses and networking opportunities will be an excellent way to get up to date with the latest AR and VR technologies, roadmaps and leading microLED companies.
Beyond AR/VR, MicroLED-Connect will have an excellent agenda, with a speaker line-up that includes Google, Meta, Yole, Continental, Aixtron, Applied Materials, Toray Engineering, TCL CSOT, JCDecaux, CEA Leti, Coherent, VueReal, Omdia, and many others. You can access the full agenda here.
