Mojo Vision teams up with CY Vision to develop next-gen automotive HUDs based on microLED light engines

MicroLED microdipslay developer Mojo Vision, a MicroLED Industry Association member, announced a partnership with CY Vision to develop next-generation heads-up displays (HUDs) for the automotive market.

These HUDs will use Mojo Vision's microLED technology, and will also leverage AI and 3D imaging to provide drivers with an "immersive and personalized driving experience with informative, line-of-sight overlays that promote driver safety and provide essential information".

Mojo Vision says that their microLED-based solution has the potential to offer up to 20 to 50 times more light efficiency compared to current systems, while offering super high brightness, exceptional contrast and resolution. CY Vision HUDs are said to eliminate existing image degradation such as sunlight reflection and color distortion.

Mojo Vision further says that a microLED based solution will enable CY Vision’s HUDs to adapt to different sized windshields through software, and to not require luxury optical elements or films, creating notable cost savings.

In 2023, Mojo Vision closed its Series A funding round, raising $43.5 million to accelerate its microLED microdisplay technology R&D and help bring it market. In January 2024, Mojo announced that it has integrated red, green and blue sub-pixels into a single panel, thus producing its first full-color microdisplay. Mojo Vision's prototype is based on the company's own high-performance QD materials, and integration process. The prototype display is based on 1.3 um blue LEDs.
