Samsung launched a new MicroLED TV, 110-inch 4K panel. This is a per-fabricated TV, Samsung's first such microLED display (all previous ones were tiled and customizable). Samsung says the TVs are now on 'pre-sale' in Korea - but it did not disclose the price. The TVs will ship in Q1 2021.
Samsung says its microLED TV is a premium at-home TV display, that offers a "breathtaking visual experience". The TV features a 100% DCI and Adobe RGB color gamut, and Samsung says it offers accurate color reproduction and high brightness. The TV is based on Samsung's all-new Micro AI Processor.
We do not know what is the LED chip size in these TVs, whether it is the same as in Samsung's current MicroLED TVs, or smaller.
Samsung is already producing microLED TVs - but these emissive displays actually use mini-LEDs (or quasi microLEDs as some call them) chips. Moving to smaller microLED chips will enable Samsung to produce smaller displays of higher resolutions.
According to reports Samsung partnered with PlayNitride and Epistar for the microLED chip technology. Samsung's current mini-LED supplier for its "microLED TVs" is Sanan Optoelectronics - which is also developing microLED technology and aims to become Samsung's second supplier for such chips.
