AUO shows its latest microLED displays at Displayweek 2024

AUO had an impressive booth at Displayweek, showing some of its latest microLED prototypes. It is clear that the company is highly focused on microLED technology as its next-gen display strategy.

First up, with a 31" large area single-panel microLED, which AUO says is the world's largest. The display is produced on a single glass LTPS backplane, and offers 120Hz and a brightness of 500 nits. AUO calls this a Large Size A.R.T. MicroLED display.

Second, there was a 17.3" 1280x720 1000 nits foldable microLED, that can fold into a 11.4" display (folding radius 4 mm).

AUO showed several transparent microLEDs. First was its 60" FHD (1920x0180) 60% transparent 600 nits tiled display, and a smaller 30" 600 nits 960x540 (0.69 mm pixel pitch) touch transparent (60%) touch-enabled one. The 60" transparent microLED was very impressive.

AUO also showed its real-depth 3D display, which is a 30" 960x540 600 nits seamlessly tiled transparent (65%) microLED panel placed on top of a 3840x2180 LCD display, to create a 3D image effect.

In addition, we have a 13.5" automotive transparent (50%) microLED display, with a FHD resolution (1920x1080, 163 PPI) and brightness up to 5,000 nits. The LEDs in this display are 30 um in size.

Finally, AUO showed the same automotive 13.5" FHD (163 PPI) microLED with  integrated camera and sensors, this one was not transparent.
