Future Stores opens its first branch in London with the world's largest microLED installation

Future Stores has launched its first branch, in London's Oxford Street. The pop-up store retailer offers a next-generation shopping experience, utilizing next-generation technologies.

The shop's inside is almost completely covered by microLED displays. It is actually a single display that includes many surfaces - on the walls, pillars, and ceiling, all controlled by a unified system.

Future Stores says it is the world's largest microLED display installation, a 435 sqm display compiled out of 6,700 different modules. The display offers 170 million pixels in total, in a pixel pitch of 1.5 mm. The brightness is quoted at 1,000 nits.

The shop's interior was designed by Mood Media. MM realized quickly that only microLED technology can provide the experience it is looking for. The team tested microLED displays from 9 different producers, until it settled on its current vendor that offered the most advanced technology that enables this unique display system.

The idea behind Future Stores is that it rents the space for high-end brands, for a period of 2 to 6 weeks. The aim is to "redefine the shopping experience", driving exceptional ROI and impact. There are plans to open several more such stores in leading cities all over the world.

The first company to launch a pop-up store at Future Stores was Intel Corporation.

In 2021, Leyard Opto-Electronics installed what was then the largest microLED display at the new Command and Control Center of Chinese conglomerate CHN Energy Investment. The CHN microLED display is 216 sqm in size (so smaller than Future Stores display), but it has almost 250 million pixels (over 7 times 8K), and a pixel pitch of 0.9 mm.
