Porotech signs up PSMC to commercialize its microLED displays
Porotech announced a strategic partnership with Taiwan’s Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corp. (PSMC), to bring Porotech's microLED displays top market.
The two companies did not disclose much, but Porotech says that this collaboration is an important step forward toward mass production of its microLED microdisplays.
Foxconn and Porotech to co-develop microLED microdisplays
Foxconn announced a strategic partnership with Porotech to co-develop microLED microdisplays, targeting AR, wearable and other applications.
Foxconn says that this partnership will utilize Porotech's Dynamic Pixel Tuning color-tunable GaN-on-Silicon microLED technology and Foxconn's technologies in semiconductor wafer manufacturing, packaging, IC drivers, CMOS backplanes, module assembly and system assembly.
Porotech demonstrates a 0.26" 1280x720 monolithic DPT full-color microLED microdisplay
Porous-GaN material platform developer Porotech has developed a single-panel full color MicroLED microdisplay, based on its Dynamic Pixel Tuning technology. The display is 0.26" in size, with a resolution of 1280x720.
The display is produced using a monolithic process, with a single LED epitaxial growth and a single-step wafer-to-wafer bonding to the CMOS backplane. The company says that the process is simple and that it offers high yields.
MicroLED technologies at SID Display Week 2023 - what to expect
SID Display Week is the display industry's premier display show and this year's event, which will take place on May 21-26, should be an excellent one.
Display Week covers all aspects of the display industry and the whole spectrum of display technologies. MicroLEDs are seen by many to be the next generation display technology, and there will indeed be an increased focus on microLED technologies and displays at the upcoming Display Week.

Porotech demonstrate a full color native GaN microled microdisplay
Porous-GaN material platform developer Porotech has demonstrated a full-color microLED microdisplay, made from the company's GaN LEDs. The company says that this is the world's first public demonstration of such a display.
The display is made using the company's DynamicPixelTuning technology, that makes it possible to create full-color or tunable-color monochrome displays using identical pixels from a single wafer. The company's PoroGaN material allows a modulated current to be leveraged to emit visible light covering the entire color spectrum on a single microLED chip.
Porotech announces a strategic partnership with IQE to produce microLED wafers
Porous-GaN material platform developer Porotech announced a strategic partnership with IQE, a supplier of compound semiconductor wafer products and advanced material solutions.
The two companies aim to jointly develop, scale and commercialize Porotech’s unique microLED wafer technology that achieves all three colors (RGB) on a single 200 or 300mm GaN-based wafer.
Porotech developed a technology that enables tunable microLED pixels
Porous-GaN material platform developer Porotech announced a new technology that it brands as DynamicPixelTuning that makes it possible to create full-color or tunable-color monochrome displays using identical pixels from a single wafer.
Porotech says that DynamicPixelTuning displays will offer high color uniformity without the use of complex fabrication processes. The technology is applicable for all microLED display types, from microdisplays to mobile displays to TV displays.
Porotech showcases RGB monochrome FHD microLED microdisplays based on its native InGaN emitters
Porous-GaN material platform developer Porotech is demonstrating its latest microLED display prototypes at Touch Taiwan 2022. The company is showing 1920x1080 monochrome microidsplays, that achieve over 2 million nits of brightness. All displays use native indium gallium nitride (InGaN)-based LEDs.
The company says it is the first to demonstrate all three-color light emitting elements made from a single material and toolchain. This include Porotech's native red InGaN display at 614-625nm wavelength.
Porotech raises $20 million to bring its native red InGaN LED technology to market
Porous-GaN material platform developer Porotech announced that it has raised $20 million in its Series A investment funding round. The new funds Will help Porotech mass produce its microLED products, and expand its global reach. The round has been led by Ameba Capital and includes a "multinational electronics giant".
In 2021 Porotech announced it has created the world's first microLED microdisplay based on a native red InGaN LED. The microdisplay was a 0.55" diagonal panel with a resolution of 960x540 Porotech says that its native InGaN red LEDs will offer higher efficiency than currently-used AlInGaP red LEDs. Developing an RGB microdisplay all from InGaN chips will also offer easier driving and process design.
