We're happy to interview Unikorn Semiconductor Corporation, as part of our series of interviews with MicroLED Industry Association members. Unikorn is a professional III-V compound semiconductor foundry that was spun-off from Epistar and now is a part of Ennostar. Unikorn focuses on epitaxy and wafer/chip processing.
Q: Can you introduce your company and technology?
Unikorn Semiconductor Corporation, a subsidiary of Ennostar Inc., is a professional compound semiconductor foundry located in Hsinchu Science Park, Taiwan, and focuses on epitaxy and wafer/chip processing by providing corresponding process parameters and production platforms that meet customers’ unique specifications and technology requirements. Not only does Unikorn offer customers our professional and quality manufacturing service on lead time, yield and customized designs, but it also ensures the protection of intellectual properties, process recipes, and structural designs of our customers with the strictest standards.

Q: Can you say why you joined the Micro LED association (MIA) and what it is you hope to achieve?
Unikorn believes joining MIA provides opportunities to explore market demands and potential customers, raise brand awareness and build up the network. Based on Unikorn’s business model, a professional compound semiconductor foundry, the missions are to assist customers in fulfilling their needs in different application areas and define the goal of "Actualize Micro LED potential with excellent expertise and services." In addition to standard process service solutions, Unikorn’s unique platform supports customers to enhance product value, differentiation and competitiveness.
What is your success to date in the MicroLED industry?
Unikorn has successfully introduced Micro LED technology into TV and signage renowned brands and has NREs from design house and display module company for AR/VR Micro LED development.
How do you see MicroLEDs changing the display industry in the next 5-10 years?
From Unikorn’s point of view, the overall demand is positive since the Micro LED for TV/signage demand continues growing and the latest application, metaverse, is extremely booming recently. In the future, mature Micro LED technology for smart phones is another key factor that will drive the growth of Micro LED market.
