The MicroLED Industry Association to host an AR microLED technology webinar

On February 7th the MicroLED Industry Association will host a private webinar on microLED technologies for the AR market. The AR market is a very good segment for microLED developers, as it offers high performance requirements, relative microLED maturity and an excellent horizon.

The upcoming Seminar will feature four world-leading speakers, and will also be open to a Q&A session, to help increase microLED developers knowledge and involvement in the AR industry:

  • Karl Guttag: a display systems engineer, one of the most respected experts on near eye displays and HMD designs
  • Assaf Levy-Beeri: CEO at JoyaTeam, an optical design team focusing on AR solutions
  • Soon-gi Park: AR specialist at LetinAR, a Korea-based AR optical system developer
  • Reza Chaji: CEO at microLED microdisplay developer VueReal (and a microLED association member)

A spotlight on Lextar: a Microled Industry Association member

We're happy to interview Lextar, as part of our new series of interviews with MicroLED Industry Association members. Lextar, a global LED developer, was established in 2008 in Taiwan as a subsidiary of AU Optronics, and is now part of Ennostar following a merger with Epistar. Lextar is producing microLED chips, and has launched its first commercial microLED products In 2018.

Q: Hello! Can you introduce your company and technology?

Lextar Electronics, a subsidiary of Ennostar Inc., was founded in May 2008 and has top research and developed team on T.E.M.O.( Thermal.Electrical .Mechanical. Optical ) vertical integration technology with over 2,300 patents worldwide and offers excellent optoelectronics technology solutions and services based on great expertise and group support. Lextar’s products cover LCD backlights, Mini LED, automotive, 3D/2D sensing, UV sterilization/curing and professional lighting which are widely applied in home appliances, automotive, industrial areas, etc.

In order to accelerate the investment of advanced applications and improve operation efficiency, Lextar and EPISTAR jointly established the best compound semiconductor investment platform - Ennostar Holdings (stock code 3714) through share swap in 2021.

The MicroLED Industry Association is happy to welcome LG Electronics as the latest member to join the newly formed association. LG Electronics joins 23 other companies to help advance the microLED industry and related technologies.

The MicroLED Industry Association was established to help accelerate the adoption of microLED display technologies. The new association brings together leading companies and organizations active in the MicroLED industry and provides an ideal forum for solving common technology issues, fostering cooperation and sharing relevant information, resources and tools. Spotlight on eLux: a Microled Industry Association member

We're happy to interview eLux, as part of our new series of interviews with MicroLED Industry Association members. eLux was established in 2016 in the USA as a spin-out from Sharp Labs of America. eLux expertise and intellectual property development focus on the massively parallel assembly processes that enable low cost manufacturing of microLED displays.

Q: Hello! Can you introduce your company and technology?

eLux, Inc. was founded in 2016 as a spin-out from Sharp Laboratories of America. eLux's objective is to develop direct emission displays based on microLED technology targeting large format displays for video wall and television applications. Core personnel of eLux, including Jong-Jan Lee (President and CEO) and Paul Schuele (CTO), had extensive experience in display development working at Sharp Labs.

The work done at company headquarters in Vancouver, Washington consists of development of fundamental microLED assembly technology and characterization of display performance and reliability. Direct emission display development involves extensive collaboration with microLED suppliers and manufacturers of display backplanes, so significant effort is involved in prototype fabrication, which takes place in Taiwan.

The MicroLED Industry Association to host a microLED technology webinar with UCSB professors DerBaars and Nakamura

On October 25th the MicroLED Industry Association will host a webinar on microLED technologies with the University of California, Santa Barbara. UCSB has a world-leading LED research program, led by Mitsubishi Distinguished Professor Steven DerBaars and Nobel Prize in Physics laureate Professor Shuji Nakamura, professor of materials and of electrical and computer engineering.

During the webinar, Prof. Nakamura and Prof. DenBaars will both give a lecture to update on the latest microLED research done at UCSB, and a few members of the MicroLED Association will also give a lecture to introduce their company technologies. There will also be time for questions, and an open discussion.

The MicroLED Industry Association begins operations, welcomes new members

The MicroLED Industry Association (MIA) successfully concluded its kickoff meeting on August 2nd. The work plan for the coming quarter was announced, and the association members were updated on work processes, collaboration activities and plans for the future.

 

The MIA is happy to announce that there are already over 15 members in the microLED association. In addition to its pre-launch founding members, the MIA welcomes the new members that joined since the official announcement on July 13. These companies include 3D Micromac, ASM Pacific Technology group, ClassOne Technology, Radiant Vision Systems and the Ennostar group (Epistar, Lextar, Yenrich and Unikorn).

Today we are happy and proud to announce a new MicroLED Industry Association, created to help accelerate the adoption of microLED display technologies.

The new association will bring together companies, academia and organizations active in the MicroLED industry and provide an ideal forum for solving common technology issues, fostering cooperation and sharing relevant information, resources and tools. The association will also work to promote its member companies, their technologies and products.
